Alexandra Oudheusden
Alexandra is originally from Fairfield County, Connecticut. She is a Recreational Therapist (RT) in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R). In 2019, Alexandra, her husband Dan, and their son Luke moved to Clemson where Alexandra is pursuing a Ph.D. focused on Recreational Therapy in Parks, Recreation, & Tourism Management.
Alexandra was introduced to Yoga, strength training, and holistic healing practices in 2005 to help manage pain and instability from low-back and patellar injuries. She completed Adaptive Yoga (chair) training in 2008, Therapeutic Yoga certification in 2009, and a 200-hr Integrative Yoga Therapy training in 2010. She has taught yoga for 15 years in both clinical and community settings. She feels blessed to work with academics from across the country investigating the use of Yoga as a clinical intervention.
Alexandra grew up loving alpine skiing, horseback riding, swimming, canoeing, hiking, and the freeing art of expression. As a youngster, she studied ballet, jazz, ice skating, Irish dancing, ballroom, and theatrical dance. Her love of dancing later led her to Latin, MENAHT, and Transnational Fusion dance (TF), which she has studied for the last 20 years.
With her passion for seeing people thrive, Alexandra looks forward to infusing her blend of mindfulness, humor, and inclusion into the community of CFC. Her motto is: Live in the light, find your path, and embody the spirit you wish to see in the world.
